PostSubject: modifying sets, props, costumes etc.   Sat May 02, 2009 2:26 pm

i am having a few problems when modifying sets in blender:
1) everytime i import a set, blender tells me "Python script error check console"
2)this sort of flattens most of the set.

thanks

Install the newest version of blender on Blender.org, then take the new scripts from DCMF and install those, the problem should be fixed, be sure that you also have the Python scripts installed, if it still doesn't work, like what happens on my desktop computer, you just can't use that computer, that's why when I make models in Blender, I use my laptop. 😉

i don't have a laptop, is there alternative way to do the sets?

what i want to do is to do is to make a new bedroom set, with a four poster bed instead of the regular one

I understand what you mean, if it still loads like that, I can make a four poster bed set for you if you like.

are you sure, i got a few sets in my mind some of them are acceptable retextures to others wich need a modified set,
well lets stick to the four poster bed set only ,forget the rest i'll find a way round somehow. all i ask is at least the layout i'll do the texturing all the other detials myself.

well the four poster bedroom is intenteded to be the Brides Bedroom were they drain the blood of the victims who dare come into the room
so i intented to make the saloon bedroom (wich resmbles a turret) into that kind of room.
here some pictures

[img][/img]

don't bother about any detail on this, i'll do details myself , just it replaces the saloon bed, no bath and no changing thingy
the next step would be then to put the urban bedroom scenes with this set also (i would this) without having the actors sleeping sideways or a foot deep in the ground.

the castle did it myself it's going to be a HUGE prop
[img][/img]

i'll using bits of the castle to turn it into castle exterior sets, such as the bridge

The castle is looking great, just make sure that its small enough to fit on the set. Also, maybe you should make some normal sized sets of parts of the castle, like the bridge, so you could have the horse carriage move across it.

PostSubject: Re: modifying sets, props, costumes etc.   Mon May 11, 2009 3:52 am

i found a very easy trick to do with the movies. It will appear like flying.
Not a bad idea in making it a gliding prop, but i'll see to that later.
I ve got quite list to do myself for sets and costumes
eg. The 2nd bat creature costume, somwhere caught between a transformation of human and bat (like the one in Francis Ford Coppola's)

a vampire bride ghost like costume

black robed costume with hood

new pieces of armour+weopons from the 14th centaury (turk+eastern european)

retexturing several costumes to make them wallach, slavic ,romanian looking

retexuring of sets to make them tim burton like, victorian buildings

new sets of castle (bridge, bedrooms, dining room, courtyard)

modified set of graveyard to make look like a crypt interior

and very imp. A schooner and several 19th centaury ships+steam launch
and a storm at sea

nosferatu shadow effects

a train+interior.
and a new stagecoach to use along the regular one, with creepy cloaked stagecaoch horses

I already improvised with some with the present mods, but this is what i am working on presentally

anyway thanks for the comments Very Happy

Aye, the wings are too long mate, if the wings are longer than the arms, they'll confuse the costume's bones so the ends of the wings would act as "hands".

mind you, the hand is there, and i only extended the last two fingers, the other fingers are all copies of the 2nd finger, the bats wings are just faces from the hand extented.

i am not sure on this, but it worked with mr Boing's (thats Mike D) dr.connors costume (thats the 1 armed man), i make another removing the arms and make the wings as if hey are wrapped around the costume(like a sleeping bat) and a version with the wings folded in such a way that it looks like flying.

now the second question is which part should i append first, the head or the body ( to evade rigs from messing up)?

The only reason that the folded wings could work and the Dr. Connors costume worked is/was because the arms wouldn't be there, but the rest of the mesh would, it would be changing the model, yet not the mesh. If you want the "extended fingers" that turn into part of the wing to bend like it is a normal hand, fine by me, the wings themselves may be too big, I tried to make a blob costume(from X-men)and I made his stomach so huge that it collapsed in on itself looking like he had a crater for a belly button. I'm thinking that your wings on the costume may do this same thing, by folding in on each other and creating an "overlapping" effect. The only way you wings would look normal is in the Monster Howl scene, using the alien howl animation, the arms would be fully stretched out, creating the effect that you probably want to have, I'd say to either decrease the size, or use the alien howl animation in you scenes.

well here is the trick i was about to use for this that : i use the blue screen fallling scene (falling gracefully in this case) were the bat creature1 would appear to have outstreched wings,
i am making a version with smaller wings to see what i can do if this is the case...

thanks Very Happy

p.s. I am making a garlic necklace, what is the name of the necklaces files,so i can import it and modify it ?(the garlic is made already)

cancel last request found it, did it:

Sweeny's Garlic

guranteed to keep away vampires
and other creatures of darkness

Yes you do have to remove the bones, I suggest loading one of the costumes into MeshManipulator, making sure that it has no bones and then the properties of a mesh. Although, over on DCMF, BusStopWilly made a fable pack, in that pack are impaled heads, you could work off of those to make it look more realistic.

Me I would, put the character in a pose using the bones and then you use the Armature parent deform "make real" (just under the modifyer) and then you can remove the bones in object mod.

Sweenytodd made this and he sent the picture to me in PM, he didn't want to post it on the forums due to it's gory nature, yet I'll let this one slide...
